Meet the Director

I am honored to lead the Heart and Blood Vessel Disease Research Focus Area at NEOMED.

Talented faculty

There are currently ten talented principal investigators in our research area. Our faculty members serve on the editorial boards of some of the highest-impact journals in cardiovascular science, including Circulation Research, Basic Research in Cardiology, International Journal of Cardiology,  Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, and American Journal of Physiology-heart and Circ physiology, and perform as grant reviewers for the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, and international agencies such as the Swiss National Science Foundation, British Heart Foundation, Research Grants Council of Hong Kong.

Mentoring young scientists

The faculty within the research focus area have provided a platform for mentoring and developing young scientists.

Our former students and trainees have positions at such institutions as Stanford University, Harvard University, Florida State University, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, Medical College of Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, National Institutes of Environmental and Health Sciences, City of Hope Medical Center, Texas A&M University Health Sciences Center, and New York Medical College.

We believe this record of accomplishment in training is due to our successes with funding and our approach to solving fundamental problems in cardiovascular sciences.

As the director, I encourage any interested students and fellows to contact the faculty you are interested in.
