BUSINESS CARD GUIDELINES

Guidelines for purchase and use of NEOMED business cards

Example of a business card with callouts.

Full name ― as you prefer it to appear professionally (Only use middle initial if you normally use it.)

Credentials: Use NEOMED style guidelines for credentials [degrees with periods (“.”); licensures/certifications without periods ― one exception “R.Ph.”]

  • In order of highest terminal degree, then licensures/certifications
  • No more than a combined total of five credentials (subject to name length)

Main title (academic or administrative). Must reflect the position associated with the logo at the bottom of card.

  • Do not add the name of your office on this line.
  • If your main title is an academic one and is within a specific college department, you may add the department’s name to this line (separated by a comma) but only if space allows. This is the only line to which adding a department name is permissible.

Title: Functional role/area of operation – or ― secondary title with specific area (if not evident).

  • If you serve the University, the functional part of your title (one that adds clarity to your position) should be on this line, not the name of the department or the office.

  • If you provide services for a specific College and want to use their logo, this line does not need the name of the College (the College logo does that) or the office.

  • If your main title is academic and is within a specific college department, do not put the department’s name on this line. [See “Main title.”]
  • If you serve the University as well as a specific College and do not want two separate business cards ― one for your University role and one for your College role ― you must use the University logo; and this line must include your College and role.

  • If you serve the University as well as a specific College and you do want two separate business cards ― one for your University role and one for your College role ― each card’s line #3 must reflect the “main title” (academic or administrative) associated with the logo at the bottom of card and line #4 must be left blank unless there’s a secondary title within the same area.

Email: NEOMED affiliated email address only

Office phone (if applicable); personal mobile and fax are optional

Address should reflect the main NEOMED address unless your offices are elsewhere, e.g., NEOMED’s Medical Office Building MOB; web address should always be the main University address.

Logo: Only Tier 1 or 2 accepted logos may be used [note: If one has a dual role that includes Tier 4, use secondary title line (#4) to show Tier 4 role; guidelines for Tier 4 logos on business cards will be developed at a future date]
