How to support students through scholarships

Join us in creating transformational leaders in health care

NEOMED is a community-based, public university that trains health professionals and medical researchers in a team-based, interprofessional environment. Most of our students come from and return to serve Ohio, a region with nationally ranked hospitals, research companies and institutions of higher education that are thriving in the health sciences.

You can make a difference in the lives of our students and the future of health care. By donating to student scholarships at NEOMED, you can help reduce the financial burden of education and enable our students to pursue their passions and goals. Your generosity will also support our mission of bringing wellness and access to health care to the medically underserved in Ohio and beyond.

Please join us in lifting the University to greater heights by investing in our students today. Your donation will help us create transformational leaders who will shape the health care landscape of tomorrow.

Types of scholarships

There are two types of scholarships at NEOMED, Endowed Scholarships and Operating Scholarships. The primary differences between the two are cost and the permanency offered by an endowed fund.

An Endowed Scholarship buys into the University endowment and is invested in perpetuity. Only the interest from the fund is used for scholarship awards; the principal remains intact. The endowed funds spending rate is approved by the NEOMED Foundation Board. Currently it is 4.25% percent. As a result, a $50,000 endowed scholarship fund earns $2,125 a year. The earned income is used for scholarship awards.

An Endowed Scholarship fund requires a minimum investment of $50,000.

An Operating Scholarship, a non-endowed fund, uses the capital donated in its entirety and does not generate interest over time. When an operating scholarship fund has been spent according to the donor’s wishes, the fund and the scholarship cease to exist.

An Operating Scholarship fund requires a minimum investment of $25,000.
