VITALS Series: Science and Leadership to Navigate the Pandemic

“Compared with the 1918 flu pandemic, we’re equipped with extraordinary scientific capabilities to deal with COVID-19,” says Rajeev Venkayya, M.D. (‘91). “But it takes time for science to be translated to innovation, and during that window we need strong leadership at all levels of government, and across all sectors including healthcare – a lesson from 1918.”
Dr. Venkayya, the president of the Global Vaccine Business Unit at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., will share his thoughts on innovation, separating fact from fiction during a pandemic, and health disparities as the featured guest on the VITALS: Visionary Health Leadership in Action speaker series. The event will be presented in a Zoom webinar Thursday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m.
A question-and-answer session will follow the NEOMED alumnus’ presentation.
