Accreditation

University accreditation

Northeast Ohio Medical University is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Commission is one of six regional agencies that accredit U.S. colleges and universities at the institutional level.

The University’s last site visit by a Commission team was in September 2022, resulting in a full 10-year reaccreditation, the most that can be earned.


Individual program accreditation

NEOMED also has many academic programs that hold additional accreditation from, and have met the educational quality standards of, accrediting agencies that are specific to their individual disciplines.

College of Medicine

The College of Medicine’s Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree program is fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The next accreditation visit will occur April 4-7, 2027. Learn about the College of Medicine’s 2027 accreditation visit.

College of Pharmacy

The College of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy degree program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Bitonte College of Dentistry

In 2024, the Bitonte College of Dentistry at NEOMED earned initial accreditation from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and the Higher Learning Commission.

Master of Public Health Program

NEOMED’s Master of Public Health program is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

Master of Medical Science in Anesthesia (Anesthesiologist Assistant)

NEOMED’s Master of Medical Science in Anesthesia program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Committee for the Anesthesiologist Assistant (ARC-AA).

Continuing Medical Education

NEOMED’s Office of Continuing Professional Education has been fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) since 1983, and was awarded Accreditation with Commendation in 2012. This status is awarded to less than a quarter of those who apply.

State Authorization (NC-SARA)

NEOMED is approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) to offer postsecondary distance education courses and programs. See more about NC-SARA.
