Research by NEOMED Alumnus Featured in New England Journal of Medicine

Back pain is a familiar sensation for many – whether they sit at a computer for a large portion of their day or are required to stand on the job.

Research on sciatica, conducted by Northeast Ohio Medical University alumnus Andrew J. Schoenfeld, M.D. (’03), and James D. Kang, M.D., was published in the New England Journal of Medicine’s March 2020 edition.

With Dr. Kang, Dr. Schoenfeld – director of spine surgical research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and the deputy editor of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery – discusses lumbar disk herniations, treatment decision-making and more in the publication*.
