NEW Center Plays Host to Crain’s Health Care Forum

The NEOMED Education and Wellness (NEW) Center has become a hub for Northeast Ohio business, community and private events since opening its doors in 2014. On Wednesday, June 20, it will host the annual Crain’s Health Care Forum for the third consecutive year. The event will focus on workplace wellness, specifically, how employee health affects productivity and insurance premiums.

The Forum will feature many leaders of the health care industry in Northeast Ohio, including CEOs from Akron Children’s Hospital and the Sisters of Charity Health System. Brent Pawlecki, M.D., chief health officer at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., will discuss how organizations can build a culture of health in the workplace.

Best of Portage Gala

On Monday, June 18, the NEW Center hosted the 2018 Best of Record-Courier Preps Awards Gala in its Ballroom. The event was held to honor the top performing student-athletes from high schools throughout Portage County in 19 varsity sports.

The event featured Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward. The former Ohio State Buckeye shared his thoughts on what it takes to transition to the next level, first as a college athlete, then as the fourth overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Best of the Best

The Record-Courier’s Best of the Best event, also known as the Record-Courier’s Official Community Choice Awards, is being held in the NEW Center’s Grand Ballroom Thursday, July 26. The awards gala recognizes top businesses, places, people, events, services and other experiences within Portage County. The opportunity to vote in this poll concluded on June 10.

“It is truly an honor to host these distinguished events at our venue,” says Andy Malitz, executive director of The NEW Center’s conference and event operations. “Building relationships with leaders and assets of our community has been key for us. As we continue to establish The NEW Center as one of Northeast Ohio’s premier conference and event centers, we find that our community outreach efforts enhance our brand as a wonderful place for an organization to hold their event or expo.”

The NEW Center is located on the NEOMED campus at 4211 St. Rt. 44 in Rootstown.
