NEOMED to host national medical innovation competition

March 4, 2025

Each year, NEOMED invites student-led teams from colleges and universities across the country to participate in the NEOvations Bench to Bedside competition. Students and professionals collaborate on teams to develop medical innovations from concept to prototype. Open to all disciplines, this journey culminates in a showcase for judges and investors. Top teams earn prizes ranging from $10,000 to $1,000 to invest in their innovations.

The 2025 NEOvations Bench to Bedside competition showcase will be held Wednesday, April 9, in the NEW Center. The event is free and open to the public. Check-in begins at 4:30 p.m.

During the showcase, student teams will present medical devices and technologies that address unmet patient needs. Their goal is to bring these innovations to market. Teams develop their projects throughout the year, working with investors, attorneys, researchers and other leaders in health care to learn the bench-to-bedside process.

In addition to student teams from NEOMED, competitions in recent years have showcased the work of teams from Kent State University, University of Akron, Youngstown State University, the Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University, University of Utah. Tufts University and others.

NEOvations Bench to Bedside is sponsored by the Burton D. Morgan Foundation with support from the NEOMED Foundation.
