For the second year in a row, the NEOMED Free Clinic earned a Gold Standard Rating from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) Quality Standards Program. This achievement reflects the Free Clinic’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare to uninsured individuals.
“This Gold Standard Rating reflects all the support, dedication and hard work of countless individuals throughout the University, including the Clinical Initiatives Board Members, the Provost, the Deans, faculty, staff, Admissions, Foundation Board, MarCom and students,” said Mark Arredondo, M.D. (’07), medical director of the NEOMED Free Clinic.
The mission of the NAFC is to ensure the medically underserved have access to affordable healthcare. To quantify and qualify the care provided at the Free and Charitable Clinic network, the NAFC formalized a set of Quality Standards, which member organizations voluntarily adopt and implement.
NAFC members voluntarily submit information to the NAFC on the various policies and procedures in place to attain their standards rating and attest/pledge that they successfully incorporate these standards within their organization.
NAFC Quality Standards elements include policies and procedures related to the following areas: administrative, clinic/pharmacy responsibilities, credentialing and privileging systems, patient care, and risk management systems.
