Meet Ian Ward

As the Northeast Ohio Medical University Class of 2027 starts their journey, we wanted to learn more about students from this incoming group.

We invited them to share their stories. Here is one response:

Meet Ian Ward, who begins his first year in the College of Pharmacy.

Hometown: Canfield, Ohio

Previous institution: My undergrad was at Youngstown State in biology.

Q: Why did you choose NEOMED?

A: I chose NEOMED because it felt like the right fit the second I came through the door as an undergrad in the pre-pharmacy club. The faculty have been so inviting and so welcoming. Being from Northeast Ohio, I always heard amazing things about NEOMED.

Q: What specific career do you hope to pursue? What inspired your choice?

A: I chose pharmacy by actually working in a pharmacy since entering college. I fell in love with the profession, how many pathways there are to helping patients in so many ways, and how many relationships you can build in the field.

Q: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: When I was little, I wanted to be an astronaut! Although it is hard, I still have dreams of being among the stars one day!!

Q: What book or movie are you currently recommending to friends? Why?

A: I’d love to recommend people to The Pursuit of Happyness [sic]. It’s an excellent film, and truly shows the strength of a father and a son.

Q: You are handed a plane ticket to anywhere in the world. Where are you going? Why?

A: If I were handed a plane ticket to anywhere, it would have to be Amsterdam. I loved going there in college and would love to go back. It was an amazing and fun three days.

If time and resources were no object, what skill or hobby would you pursue? Why?

If time and money were no object, I would pursue becoming a professional golfer. I love to golf and especially love spending my free time doing it.
