In the News: Match Day story tugs at the ‘Heartstrings’

Three College of Medicine students shared their Match Day stories with WKYC-TV reporter Lindsay Buckingham for a “Heartstrings” segment.

They were among the162 students to match from NEOMED on March 20.

Samuel Accordino will continue his journey at Lurie Children’s Hospital at Northwestern in Chicago, where he matched for residency in child neurology.

“I’m really excited to see what happens next,” he shared in the interview.

“I matched at MetroHealth, my number one choice,” Sharad Patel, who matched emergency medicine at the Cleveland hospital, told the reporter.

Brenda Vega-Ortiz matched at Kaiser Oakland for OB/GYN.

“I’ve been working so hard towards this, and it just feels really good to accomplish it,” she said in the interview.
