Shout out to these recent Campus Kudos honorees!
Liz Backus, Executive Education, was recognized for her patience. “As someone who is always actively learning, I ask a lot of questions. Liz is always happy to answer any and all questions that I have, no matter how big or small. Most recently, she helped me through some Excel data analysis. Excel is super challenging for me but Liz makes it easier to understand by taking the time to help walk me through different scenarios. She’s a rockstar!”
Kristy Bennett, CMU, was recognized for her helpfulness. “Kristy has been helping to pick up tasks from other people in the department and has very helpful to her coworkers!”
Andrea Coard, Office of the Provost, was recognized for outstanding support. “Andrea was a significant contributor to the success of the Employee Recognition Event, as she served on the planning committee and navigated all aspects of the faculty award process. While most at NEOMED recognized the work of the HR team as hosts of the event, and the most visible leads, Andrea works with numerous stakeholders and University service units to ensure that our very talented faculty are recognized for their exceptional teaching, research and service to NEOMED. Andrea also supports Dr. Faison’s involvement in the recognition ceremony and provides him with all of the materials and information he needs to excel in his role as Provost. She’s the backbone of faculty recognition, and none of it would happen without her competent and friendly navigation!”
Sebastián Díaz, Ph.D., College of Medicine, was recognized for mentorship. “I would like to recognize Dr. Sebastián Díaz for his exceptional commitment to student mentorship. He consistently goes above and beyond to support those around him, always willing to lend a hand with research analysis and even making himself available after work hours to ensure students have the guidance they need. Dr. Díaz also takes a genuine interest in the academic and professional activities of his mentees. He prioritizes what his students have going on in their lives and invests the time to build meaningful, lasting relationships with both students and colleagues. His dedication fosters not only academic growth but also a strong sense of community and support. He is truly an invaluable member of the NEOMED campus community, and I believe he more than deserves this campus kudos in recognition of his outstanding mentorship and dedication. Erica Dovin, Strategy and Transformation, was recognized for leadership. “Kudos to Erica Dovin for her exceptional leadership in developing scorecards for the NEOMED Board of Trustees! From day one, Erica jumped into scorecard creation, building connections across campus, thoughtfully aggregating data, and driving multiple iterations for leadership review. Her work not only advanced the development of the scorecards, but also elevated their design, clarity and impact through strong data standardization and visualization. Her efforts came to fruition last week when the scorecards were officially endorsed by the Board, a testament to both the quality of the work and the rigor behind it. Congratulations to Erica on a truly outstanding accomplishment!
Stacey Gardner-Buckshaw, Ph.D., Department of Family and Community Medicine, was recognized for her dedication to students “I would like to recognize Dr. Stacey Gardner-Buckshaw for her outstanding dedication to student success and mentorship. She consistently thinks outside the box, bringing creativity and innovation into her work while always welcoming and encouraging student involvement. Dr. Gardner-Buckshaw is an exceptional collaborator and relationship builder who fosters a supportive and empowering environment for both students and colleagues. She truly believes in her students and is committed to helping them grow, not only academically but also as individuals. She challenges her students to become the best versions of themselves, both in the classroom and in the community, while providing the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed. Her passion, leadership, and unwavering support make her an invaluable member of the NEOMED campus community, and she is most deserving of this recognition. Thank you, Dr. Gardner-Buckshaw!”
Don Habila, CMU, was recognized for his skill. “Don has helped with scheduling and repair of multiple pieces of equipment in the facility.”
Amanda McGarry, CMU, was recognized for her organizational skills. “Amanda has taken on some organization tasks in the department which has been very helpful.”
Erin Polcyn, Master of Public Health Program, was recognized for her willingness to help. “Erin is always willing to help, always sharing her knowledge, answer questions and assist in whatever is needed. She always takes the extra step to help out and be the best co-worker she can be. Thank you, Erin, for always being approachable and kind.”
