Lean Six Sigma Certification Programs

Lean six Sigma Certification PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) is committed to empowering our people to achieve operational excellence through Lean Six Sigma training.

NEOMED currently offers Yellow Belt and Green Belt certification programs for its faculty, staff, students and clinical partners. Attendees are encouraged to attend a training class as part of a project team with colleagues from their department or across departments that work closely together. Individual participants are also welcome. Successful completion of NEOMED’s Yellow Belt program is a prerequisite for the Green Belt program.

At the start of the program, participants identify an improvement idea that directly impacts their work area. The Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools are then applied using the project team’s selected improvement idea.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Lean Six Sigma is a highly sought after credential in many disciplines, increasingly so in health care and education. In this course, students will learn the fundamental principles of Lean and Six Sigma and apply the DMAIC process improvement methodology to a project of their choosing. By identifying waste and collecting process performance data, students will make their processes more efficient, reduce variation, and eliminate opportunities for defects.

Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a globally practiced process improvement methodology that has become a gold standard across the fields of business and finance. More recently, LSS has become more widely applied to the fields of health care administration and education. LSS practitioners share a common vocabulary, project tools, and conceptual process improvement framework that unite them around the pursuit of continuous quality improvement, process efficiency and effectiveness, and stakeholder satisfaction. Those certified in any level of LSS are highly sought after across many industries and are able to bring a specialized skillset to any team. At NEOMED, many of our faculty, staff, and students have been trained at some level in LSS and are the drivers of quality improvement at the university!

Yes, you must certify as a NEOMED Yellow Belt prior to starting the NEOMED Green Belt certification program.

NEOMED does not offer certification without participation in the group learning sessions and achieving an 80% on the end of course assessment. At this time, NEOMED does not offer certification by just taking the knowledge assessment.
