The Area Health Education Center activities are focused on the recruitment, training, and professional continuing education for those individuals from medically underserved areas that would like to be or are currently involved with health care education or professions. The overarching goal is to reduce health disparities by improving the quantity, quality, diversity, and distribution of the nation’s health care workforce.
Program Awareness: Pipeline or Health Careers for 9-12 high school students through the regional AHEC Centers.
Program Immersion: MEDCAMP, MCAT Prep, and AHEC Scholars Program for undergraduate and graduate students.
Program Training: Community and Experiential Training for AHEC Scholars and health professions students at NEOMED.
Program Support: Continuing Education for Health Professionals throughout N.E. Ohio.
