Student with a standardized patient

Wasson Center at NEOMED Seeks Standardized Patients

Are you, or is someone you know, seeking a fun part-time job opportunity with flexible hours? The Wasson Center at NEOMED is recruiting Standardized Patients (SPs) to work with students and other health professionals to help improve diagnostic and communication skills.

SPs are individuals trained to portray patients with a certain medical condition, such as a chronic headache or stomach pain. Students interview SPs to practice their communication and physical examination skills.

SPs can participate in a variety of simulations that they have an interest in, which may be interviews or encounters involving physical examinations and diagnosis exercises. These activities take place between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday or evening activities. Flexible schedules are desired. Times and compensation vary depending on the activity.

To apply to become a SP, contact the Wasson Center for Clinical Skills Training, Assessment and Scholarship at 1.800.686.2511 ext. 6747.
