Urgent Need for Pediatric Specialists

Ohioans have a critical need for federal support of pediatric specialists, say three pediatricians in a guest column posted by Cleveland.com

“The American Board of Pediatrics shows fewer physicians are choosing careers in pediatric subspecialties and mental health, while the aging workforce is rapidly retiring without incoming replacements,” says the article. One of the writers is Anisha Bhatia Attawala, M.D., a neonatologist and assistant professor of pediatrics at Northeast Ohio Medical University.

As part of the solution, the three physicians point to a federal health spending bill currently under consideration.
