Health care providers and community organizations have teamed up to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations in three Akron neighborhoods over Memorial Day weekend, and volunteer students from Northeast Ohio Medical University plan to be part of the effort.
The COVID Care-A-Van will make three stops in Akron between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. Saturday, May 29:
- Noon-1 p.m. Intersection of Grant Street and Cole Avenue
- 1:30-2:30 p.m. Intersection of Princeton Street and Bachtel Avenue
- 3-4 p.m. St. Ashworth COGIC, 1086 Vernon Odom Blvd.
Summit County Health will provide J&J vaccinations onsite. Medical providers, including Deborah Plate Vargo, D.O., a professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and a physician at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, will be on hand to answer questions and share information about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.
