Students in Medical Cannabis Pharmacology Course Visit Cultivator

Students in a new medical cannabis pharmacology class of Christine Dengler-Crish, Ph.D., recently visited Buckeye Relief, a medical cannabis cultivator and producer in Eastlake, Ohio.

Dr. Dengler-Crish, an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, designed the elective course to provide pharmacy and graduate students with the knowledge and resources needed to understand the complex pharmacological properties of cannabis.

“As future pharmacists and researchers, they will be able to evaluate the benefits and limitations of using medical cannabis to treat specific patient conditions,” says Dr. Dengler-Crish. “This is important for our future health care workforce because the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program is now operating in its third year and the number of patients eligible to use medical cannabis is steadily increasing.”
