Students in kickboxing class

Students Break from Books to Box in V-Week 2019

Celebrating V-Day, a global activist movement to stop violence against women and girls, was just the start for NEOMED’s student chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association this year. As part of its V-Week 2019 events, it hosted a kickboxing workshop Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Kicking through the stress of school

The piloxing-style workshop — a mix of Pilates, dance, and boxing — gave students a chance to step away from studying and break a sweat.

Kaitlyn Patacca (pictured to the right), a second-year College of Medicine student, was one of the students who attended.

“The kickboxing class was a great way to spend time with my friends and get a good work out. It’s always nice to de-stress with people who know what you are going through with similar experiences,” Patacca said.
