Stepping Out of Comfort Zones and Into the Anatomy Lab

At the age of 66, Cindy Lombardo was looking for adventure. And she found it, through Northeast Ohio Medical University’s Anatomy Academy, a two-week course for students and adults that allows participants a hands-on experience for those interested in medicine and anatomy.

The program, led by Dana Peterson, Ph.D., a professor of anatomy and neurobiology, offers lectures, discussions, clinical sessions –  even time in the Dr. Zouhair and Carol Yassine Gross Anatomy Lab, where students dissect human cadavers and view brains, spinal cords and organs while learning basic suturing techniques.

Enrolling in Anatomy Academy gave Lombardo a new opportunity to step out of her comfort zone.
