More than 200 NEOMED students will present their original scholarly work at the 2025 Student Research Symposium, set for Friday, November 21. The event will take place from 1-5 p.m., with presentations in both the NEW Center Ballroom and Cook Alumni Hall.
The event will also feature two notable speakers with presentations open to the NEOMED community. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.
Eliot Mostow, M.D., M.P.H., professor and chair of the Dermatology Section, will speak at 1:10 p.m., presenting “Collect Data, Tell Stories: Stay Human in Research.” Sorin Teich, D.M.D., M.B.A., dean of the Bitonte College of Dentistry, will present “The Curious Case of Flying Frogs – an Exercise in Critical Thinking” at 3 p.m.

Eliot N. Mostow, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Mostow is professor and chair of the Dermatology Section for the Department of Internal Medicine. He earned his M.D. from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1985, followed by an internship at OSU, a PHS Epidemiology Fellowship with an M.P.H. at Johns Hopkins, and two more years at the National Institutes of Health in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control. His dermatology training was at the University of Michigan from 1989-92, before serving as faculty at the University of Pittsburgh, where he developed what has become a longstanding interest in wound care.
He has been involved at NEOMED since starting Akron Dermatology in 1993. NEOMED and other faculty appointments have given him the opportunity to mentor and teach many students, and he has a genuine passion for excellence in medical education, prevention of errors in medicine, medical ethics, and applications of medical humanities to enhancing medical education and practice.
Sorin T. Teich, D.M.D., M.B.A.
Dr. Teich graduated from the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine in Jerusalem, where he also obtained a certificate in prosthodontics. This was followed by an M.B.A. in 2004 from Northwestern University.
Prior to being appointed as the dean of the Bitonte College of Dentistry, Dr. Teich served as the associate dean of clinical affairs and chief operating officer at the Medical University of South Carolina. He arrived in Charleston after spending over a decade at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine where he fulfilled the position of associate dean of clinical operations.
A tenured professor, he has published over 70 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals focusing on evidence-based dentistry, dental materials and digital dentistry.
