Serpil Erzurum (’83) Honored

NEOMED alumna Serpil Erzurum, M.D. (’83), has been honored with one of the most prestigious distinctions in the health and medicine fields. Dr. Erzurum was recently elected by her peers to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) in recognition of her major contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences, health care and public health.

As a physician, researcher and educator, Dr. Erzurum is credited with major advancements in respiratory medicine. For more than 30 years, her translational research has accelerated the rate at which many scientific discoveries have gone from the lab to the bedside, improving patient care.

Dr. Erzurum currently serves as chair of the Lerner Research Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, where she has been employed since 1993.
