Saliva Lollipop? Not Yet

After word started spreading about a potential “saliva lollipop” to test for COVID-19, Yahoo News consulted experts.

Richard Watkins, M.D., an infectious disease physician and associate professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, agreed with Amesh A. Adalja, M.S., a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, that such technology is not yet available.

“It’s conceivable, but doesn’t exist now,” said Watkins.
