Restocking the Bio-Med Closets
When revisions to the dress code at Bio-Med Science Academy (a STEM+M school located on the NEOMED campus) required new apparel, some families faced financial hardship. That’s when Christine Kovacich, who supervises NEOMED’s NOOK Bookstore, and Corine Tracy, fiscal specialist at Bio-Med (left and right, respectively, in photo) took action with a fundraiser to re-stock the Bio-Med closets at both the lower and upper academy with clothing that could be distributed to children in need. Clean, used apparel was also collected.
The results: A total of $660 in cash donations was used to purchase items at cost through the NOOK—24 pullover hoodies, 22 full-zip hoodies and 17 crew-neck sweatshirts, all decorated with the Bio-Med logo, which is a dress code requirement. Seven items of apparel were also donated to be distributed.
