Research by Psychiatry Faculty Featured in American Psychiatric Association Journal

Research by two Northeast Ohio Medical University faculty members and a colleague at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill is highlighted in the December 2019 issue of the American Psychiatric Association’s Psychiatric Services. The article is part of the Think Bigger, Do Good series commissioned by the Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation, Peg’s Foundation, the Patrick P. Lee Foundation and the Peter & Elizabeth Tower Foundation.

Written by Natalie Bonfine, Ph.D.,  a NEOMED assistant professor of psychiatry; Mark Munetz, M.D., The Margaret Clark Morgan Endowed Chair and Professor of Psychiatry; and Amy Blank Wilson, Ph.D., an associate professor in the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill; the article discusses the complex factors that contribute to justice involvement for people with serious mental illness.

Dr. Bonfine was also a guest on Psychiatric Services podcast, From Pages to Practice, where she discussed this article and the potential for an integrated mental health and substance use services system to serve as the focal point for coordinating and integrating services to meet the needs of this population.
