Project ECHO Panel on COVID-19 and Vaccines

A virtual panel presentation by Northeast Ohio Medical University’s Project ECHO Wednesday, Feb. 17, covered frequently asked questions about the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines.

Panelists were Thomas File, M.D., professor of internal medicine and chair of the infectious disease department at Summa Health, as well as immediate past president of the Infectious Disease Society of America; Angelo DeLucia, professor of molecular virology and cancer biology; and Randy Welton, M.D., chair of the Department of Psychiatry

Betty Lin-Fisher of the Akron Beacon Journal wrote, “The efficacy against the disease for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines is 94% and 95% and the rates for others that have not yet been approved are 76% for AstraZeneca, 66% for Johnson & Johnson and 89% for Novavax, File said….One of the most important things, File said, is that all five vaccines have shown 100% results in preventing death.”
