June 4, 2024
The College of Pharmacy celebrated it third-year pharmacy students during the highly anticipated P3 Pinning Ceremony held on May 15 in Watanakunakorn Auditorium. This annual event marks a significant milestone in the students’ educational journey, symbolizing their transition from classroom learning to practical, hands-on clinical experiences.
The auditorium was filled with excitement and pride as students and faculty gathered to honor the achievements of these dedicated students. Katherine Tromp, Pharm.D., interim dean of the College of Pharmacy, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of growth, development, compassion and empathy.
“The ceremony today is another step in your path to becoming a pharmacist,” Dr. Tromp remarked. “By wearing the pin, you are accepting the responsibilities of the pharmacy profession and representing NEOMED value to the public that you will serve. We are all very proud of you, and we are excited to see your continued growth over the next year.”
During the ceremony, each student was called to the front to receive the pin from a faculty member who has mentored and supported them throughout their studies. The pin, engraved with the Bowl of Hygeia, serves as a reminder of the students’ accomplishments and the journey ahead.
The ceremony also included a heartfelt recitation of the Oath of a Pharmacist, led by Lukas Everly, Pharm.D., BCPS, director of experiential education and associate professor of Pharmacy Practice. The solemn pledge reinforces the ethical and professional responsibilities that the students are about to undertake.
The P3 Pinning Ceremony not only marks a critical step in the educational journey of pharmacy students but also serves as a testament to their resilience and dedication. As they prepare to embark on their clinical rotations, the University community supports them, confident in their ability to succeed and positively impact the health care industry.
Congratulations to all the third-year pharmacy students on this well-deserved recognition.
