Pathways to Pharmacy summer camp gives high school students taste of careers in pharmacy

The annual NEOMED Pathways to Pharmacy Camp is a selective, four-day program designed for current high school juniors and seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy. It is offered with either a day or overnight camp option.

This year’s camp will be Tuesday through Friday, June 20-23, on the NEOMED campus.

Pathways to Pharmacy students participate in a range of activities, including interactive workshops, simulations and laboratory experiments. They learn about different aspects of pharmacy, such as medication management, patient counseling and pharmaceutical compounding while interacting with NEOMED pharmacy faculty, staff and students.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of pharmacists and the types of careers available in the field. Additionally, students will build valuable skills, such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving, that will be beneficial in their future academic and professional pursuits.

Cost for the four-day experience is $350 for overnight camp or $200 for day camp. Participants in the overnight camp will be housed in Stopher Hall at Kent State University.

Applications for the camp will be accepted until Friday, April 14, and selected students will be notified the week of April 24.
