NEOMED to Host Free Community Health Fair

Northeast Ohio Medical University will host The Body and Beyond, a free community health fair. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 17, in the NEOMED Education and Wellness (NEW) Center.

The event is free and open to the public. The following health screenings will be provided: cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index, glaucoma, heart disease, HIV and grip and balance. Cholesterol screenings will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event will give community members the opportunity to speak with a physician who will be available to answer health-related questions. Additional features of the health fair include child-friendly activities, health information booths, prize giveaways and food samples from area vendors.

Prevention education sessions and workshops will be held as well. Topics include heart disease and health, diabetes, cancer, mental health, nutrition and exercise, smoking cessation and sleep.

Sequoia Wellness will offer free group exercise classes for health fair attendants, including tai chi, yoga and Zumba. Attendants will also receive a complimentary one-week guest pass and a 75 percent discount on Sequoia Wellness enrollment.
