NEOMED students proudly represented the College of Medicine at the American Society of Nephrology’s Kidney Week 2025, held Nov. 5–9 in Houston, Texas. ASN Kidney Week is the world’s premier nephrology conference, drawing thousands of physicians, scientists and trainees for teaching sessions, poster presentations and global networking.
Working under the mentorship and leadership of M4 Director Rupesh Raina, M.D., NEOMED students showcased innovative work spanning kidney disease, clinical informatics, comparative patient analyses and peritoneal dialysis outcomes.
The students representing NEOMED at Kidney Week 2025 included Nafees Sathik (M1), Adam Grden (M1), Sameer Parashar (M1), Haziq Rabbani (M2), Raghav Shah (M3), and Shay Tanna (COGS). Their poster presentations highlighted diverse projects across nephrology, including analyses of kidney replacement therapy, disparities in renal care, predictive modeling in acute kidney injury, and novel dialysis technologies.
Beyond presenting their scholarly work, NEOMED students had the opportunity to attend lectures led by world-renowned nephrologists, participate in specialized workshops, and network with leaders in academic medicine and translational research.
Reflecting on his experience, second-year student Haziq Rabbani said, “Attending Kidney Week was a genuinely transformative experience. None of this would have been possible without Dr. Raina’s mentorship, support and belief in our potential. He guided us through every stage of our projects and made it possible for us to present on such a prestigious national platform. He has been a mentor for me since my undergraduate studies. I am deeply grateful for his leadership and the countless hours he invests into developing students like family and providing scholarly opportunities.”
