More transparency about the potential risks of medical marijuana is needed from the websites for such programs, says Erik Messamore, M.D., Ph.D., in an article published on the KevinMD.com blog.

Dr. Messamore, an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Northeast Ohio Medical University, notes, for example, that Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Control Program website “lists 21 diseases that can be treated with marijuana. The website even explains how children can obtain medical marijuana cards. But it says nothing about any possible side effects or risks.”
