NEOMED Alumna Teams Up with WNBA’s Chicago Sky

For Holly Benjamin, M.D. (’94), sports are a way of life. A professor of orthopaedic surgery, rehabilitation medicine and pediatrics, she is also director of Primary Care Sports Medicine at The University of Chicago. Dr. Benjamin recently led UChicago’s sports medicine team in studying 475 Division III athletes for a 30-institution national study of concussions and head impact exposure in NCAA student athletes. Now, Dr. Benjamin has another exciting role.

The University of Chicago Medicine recently signed on as the official medical provider to the WNBA’s Chicago Sky. Dr. Benjamin and others from the academic health system will be responsible for providing the women’s basketball team with comprehensive player- and patient-centered services in orthopaedics, sports medicine, women’s health, and primary care.
