Meet Loga Iyer

As the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) Class of 2027 starts their journey, we wanted to learn more about students from this incoming group.

We invited them to share their stories. Here is one response:

Meet Loga Iyer, who begins her first year in the College of Medicine.

Hometown: Mason, Ohio

Previous Institution: I received my bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Akron and received my Master in Foundations of Medicine degree from NEOMED.

Q: Why did you choose NEOMED?

A: I chose NEOMED because I love the close-knit atmosphere and the fact that everyone is extremely warm and welcoming. Most importantly, with emphasis to hands-on learning, great faculty and multiple extracurricular activities, I felt like I was in a great place that would set me up for success as a future physician.

Q: What do you do to relax?

A: In my free time, I love to cook, go on hikes and paint. I am trained in Indian classical dance and music, so I also perform in a variety of platforms.

Q: You are handed a plane ticket to anywhere in the world. Where are you going? Why?

A: If I were handed a plane ticket, I would love to travel to Iceland to see the northern lights. Iceland has been in my bucket list for the longest time, and I would love to see those bright and vibrant colors under the night sky.

Q: What’s one thing you believe everyone should try at least once?

A: One thing I believe everyone should try at least once is taking a solo international trip to a place of choice. I think it is important to enjoy your own company while exploring the new place. Plus, you might honestly learn so much about yourself. I have personally not done an international trip by myself yet, but it is something I definitely plan to do in the future.
