IGNITE MAGAZINE RECOGNIZED FOR COVER DESIGNS

The Spring 2016 and Fall 2016 issues of Northeast Ohio Medical University’s biannual Ignite magazine won second place for Best Cover Design in the Trade Publications category of the Ohio’s Best Journalism Contest held annually by the Society of Professional Journalists. NEOMED will be honored for the winning entry in an awards ceremony Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Ignite commissioned artists from two of its partner schools to create the cover designs. Alexandra Meluch, a design student for Glyphix in the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University, created the design for the Spring 2016 issue, while David Szalay, an associate professor in the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron, illustrated the Fall 2016 issue.

Society of Professional Journalists chapters are located across the nation to promote journalism and freedom of speech, and educate future and current journalists.
