Honoring Edgar Jackson on MLK Day Program

Students and alumni representing NEOMED are among those sharing their perspectives for a special program honoring Edgar Jackson, M.D.

The Cleveland Public Library, in partnership with WOIO 19News, presented Dr. Jackson the CPL Drum Major for Change Award during its Martin Luther King Jr. Day program. The award recognizes everyday Clevelanders who have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life in the city.

Dr. Jackson was a key figure in the development of NEOMED’s urban primary care pathway.

Dr. Jackson’s segment begins about 30 minutes in.  The segment includes remarks about Dr. Jackson from:

  • Aviva Aguilar, a third year College of Medicine student
  • Carl Allamby, M.D. (’19), an emergency medicine resident at Cleveland Clinic Akron General
  • Laura Allen, a fourth year College of Medicine student
  • Sonja Harris Haywood, M.D., interim associate dean of curriculum integration in the College of Medicine Office of Medical Education

In addition to the recognition of Dr. Jackson, the program includes a conversation with United Way of Greater Cleveland President and CEO Augie Napoli; an I Have a Dream message from a children’s perspective; and a performance by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Alpha Lambda Chapter.
