Haqqi Lab to Present at International Conference

Three abstracts from the lab of Tariq Haqqi, Ph.D., a Northeast Ohio Medical University professor of anatomy and neurobiology, have been selected for the 2020 Orthopaedic Research Society conference.

The international conference for biologists, engineers, clinicians, surgeon-scientists, orthopaedic surgeons, veterinarians and more, is scheduled to take place February 8-11 in Phoenix.

Mohammad (Yunus) Ansari, Ph.D., a research assistant professor, was selected to deliver a podium presentation. Hope Ball, Ph.D., a post-doctoral fellow, was also selected to deliver a podium presentation and to present her research poster.

Research to be presented

“Lysosomal Function Is Deregulated In Osteoarthritis And Its Inhibition Induces Apoptosis In Chondrocytes Through Bax Mediated Release Of Cytochrome C,” by Dr. Ansari is co-authored by Dr. Ball; Saima Wase, a second-year College of Medicine student; Kimberly Novak; and Dr. Haqqi.

“RTL3 Coordinates With SOX9 To Regulate COL2A1 Expression In Human Articular Chondrocytes,” by Dr. Ball, is co-authored by Dr. Ansari; Kimberly Novak; and Dr. Haqqi.

“Molecular Mechanisms Underlying The Regulation Of Proprotein Convertase Substilisin/kexin Type 9 (pcsk9) And Janus Kinase 3 (jak3) By Transfer RNA Fragment Trf-3003a In Human Chondrocytes,” by Dr. Ball, is co-authored by Dr. Green; Dr. Ansari; Kimberly Novak; and Dr. Haqqi.
