Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease Isn’t Just for Kids, NEOMED Associate Professor Says

Hand, foot and mouth disease is more often than not associated with little ones. But New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard recently (and unfortunately) discovered the condition can be contracted by adults, too.

Richard Watkins, M.D., an associate professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University, discussed the mild, yet contagious viral infection with SELF magazine. “It is uncommon for adults to get it but does occasionally happen,” Dr. Watkins explained.
