Attendees of the NEOMED intergenerational Halloween party

Halloween Celebrated Across Generations

Twenty four senior guests mingled and reminisced with students when Northeast Ohio Medical University’s Geriatrics Interest Group held its annual Intergenerational Halloween Party, Tuesday, Oct. 22.

More than 100 students, faculty, and senior center members gathered at the NEOMED Education and Wellness (NEW) Center Ballroom to enjoy an evening filled with music, ice cream and pumpkin carving.

GIG did a wonderful job planning this the party in order to allow students and senior center members from around the community to interact with one another in a fun and friendly environment.

The evening started off with a performance by NEOMED’s Musicians in Medicine, who performed Halloween classics such as “Monster Mash” and “Disturbia.”

“I had a great time sharing my love of music by singing at this festive event,” said Kelsey Johnson, a fellow first-year College of Medicine student.

Rachel Krevh, a first-year College of Medicine student who also attended, said, “The Intergenerational Halloween Party is my favorite memory on campus so far! I made many new friendships over separating pumpkin seeds, carving pumpkins and eating ice cream with local seniors.”

A huge thank you to Dussel Farm, located in Kent, Ohio, for donating the pumpkins for the event, as well as NEOMED’s I Love Ice Cream Club for taking the time to serve delicious ice cream to all of our attendees.

GIG found a creative way to allow members of multiple generations to come together and celebrate a mutual love for each other and festivities. We look forward to celebrating this event again next year!
