Funding Supports Consultations by NEOMED Psychiatrist

Patients at Heartland Behavioral Healthcare in Massillon will continue to have access to psychiatric consultations from Erik Messamore, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of psychiatry, thanks to support from renewed funding from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Dr. Messamore specializes in serious mental illness, particularly schizophrenia.

“State hospitals like Heartland Behavioral Health are where many people are treated if they have complicated cases. My training in pharmacology is useful in treating those patients, and so I am brought in as a consultant,” explains Dr. Messamore.
