Flu Shot Information for Older Adults

Experts quoted in Prevention magazine are unequivocal: getting a flu shot is important, especially if you are 50 or older.

“It is possible to get the flu and COVID-19 at the same time and the symptoms can feel very similar,” notes the reporter. “You don’t want that,” says Richard Watkins, M.D., an infectious disease physician and professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Those over age 65 have additional options, explained with information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which says, “Getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever during 2020-21.”
