Family Physician Stays In Touch During COVID-19 with Social Media

Patients and community members who have never met Northeast Ohio Medical University alumnus Michael (Mike) Sevilla, M.D. (’98), an associate professor of family and community medicine, in person have the opportunity to do so, virtually, via Facebook.

Dr. Sevilla, a family physician with the Family Practice Center of Salem, in Salem, Ohio, recently told Valley Tough that during the COVID-19 pandemic, he frequently updates his patients and community through Facebook videos to keep his audience at ease.

A bit of his advice: “Yes, we’re living in unprecedented times, but they’re also imperfect times. Sometimes the choices we try to make to get out of these times will be imperfect, but that’s OK. We’re all doing the best that we can every day, but we cannot be afraid to try to get back to some kind of normal life. Yes, there will be some risk to leave your house, but you cannot stay home forever. We WILL get through this together as a community.”
