Experts Answer COVID-19 Questions

Last week, Gov. Mike DeWine introduced the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, a color-coded system designed to assess the spread of COVID-19 throughout the state of Ohio.

The Akron Beacon Journal asked five experts from Northeast Ohio Medical University with ties to Summa Health and Cleveland Clinic Akron General about the spread of COVID-19, vaccines, returning to school and more.

Those who provided answers are listed below:

  • Shanu Agarwal, M.D. (’00), an associate professor of internal medicine
  • Angelo DeLucia, Ph.D., an associate professor of molecular virology and cancer biology
  • Donald Dumford, III, M.D., an assistant professor of internal medicine
  • Thomas File, M.D., professor of internal medicine and president of the Infectious Diseases Society of America
  • Joseph Zarconi, M.D. (’81), professor and chair of internal medicine and the University’s medical director in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
