Community Teams Up to Contain COVID-19

It took a bit of doing, but the Summit County Sheriff’s Office is now better equipped to prevent the spread of COVID-19, thanks to help from the Rootstown Community Pharmacy and a philanthropic community organization.

The story began when the Rotary Club of Green, Ohio, wanted to purchase hand sanitizer for members of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. The club’s idea was that personnel could benefit from a supply to use while interacting with the public or entering public spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the Rotary Club ran into a dilemma that has become all too familiar since early March – where to secure a large supply? A member of the Rotary Club reached out to Mary Taylor, M.Tax, CPA, vice president of operations and finance at NEOMED, thinking her friend might have an answer. Taylor did, recommending they try Rootstown Community Pharmacy, which began selling the product on April 1.

The Pharmacy was able to fill the order – 250 individual bottles’ worth –  for the Rotary Club’s donation, and employees of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office now have a good supply.
