Combating the Delta Variant

The COVID-19 strain known as the delta variant is highly contagious, and unvaccinated people should get the vaccine, says Thomas File, M.D., a professor of internal medicine; chair of Summa Health’s Infectious Disease Division; and immediate past-president of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Dr. File told the Akron Beacon Journal that “evidence suggests fully vaccinated person who become infected with the delta variant typically have mild cases.”

He added, “The best way to protect yourself and those close to you is to be vaccinated.”
