Cleveland Plain Dealer Spotlights Bio-Med Science Academy

“A lab experience that college seniors would envy.’’ That‘s what Neha Shah calls the opportunity to intern as a high school senior in the lab of Denise Inman, Ph.D., at Northeast Ohio Medical University. Shah is a 2018 graduate of Bio-Med Science Academy, the STEM+M school on NEOMED’s campus.

Bio-Med is featured in a Cleveland Plain Dealer series examining how local schools, businesses and organizations are preparing students for successful careers.

“Neha Shah spent her senior year of high school feeding a special diet to mice with glaucoma, freezing their chickpea-sized brains and slicing the brains into sections no wider than a human hair to uncover facts about the disease. She discovered that laboratory work was anything but boring,’’ begins the article.
