Students at casino night fundraiser

Casino Night Raises $10K

The SOAR Student-Run Free Clinic Casino Night held Oct. 11 was a huge success, resulting in $10,000  being raised for the clinic. The event had a Park Place Monopoly theme with an impressive selection of games for people to choose from, including blackjack, Texas hold ‘em, roulette and Money Wheel.

Several elaborate themed raffle gift baskets were generously donated by various departments throughout the University, and a saxophonist serenaded the crowd throughout the evening. President  Langell joined the fun, too, in his second week after starting his new position.

All proceeds from the event will go toward the SOAR Student-Run Free Clinic, which provides primary care and medication management services at no cost to uninsured and underinsured members of the local community.

OutReach would like to thank everyone who showed up and the donors who supported the event to help make it a success,” said Whitney Stolnicki, a second-year College of Medicine student.

“A special thank-you to everyone who helped make it successful, especially John Boltri, M.D., chair of family and community medicine; Lacey Madison, director of operations for the Department of Family and Community Medicine; Julie Stier, administrative coordinator; second-year College of Medicine student Pallavi Lanka; and all of the volunteers.”
