Biotech entrepreneur Dr. Amol Soin named 2026 NEOMED Commencement speaker

Amol Soin, M.D. (’02), a nationally recognized biotech entrepreneur and interventional pain management physician, has been named the 2026 Commencement speaker for his alma mater, Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED).

Dr. Soin is the owner and medical director of Ohio Pain Clinic, a freestanding, multidisciplinary pain management center in Dayton, Ohio. In his clinical practice, he employs the latest evidence-based techniques in interventional pain medicine and is widely recognized for his compassionate, patient-centered approach. Dr. Soin emphasizes ethical care and holistic treatment strategies designed to minimize reliance on narcotics while improving patients’ quality of life.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Soin has built a distinguished career as a physician-entrepreneur and innovator. He holds dozens of worldwide patents and has founded multiple startups spanning neuromodulation, pain management technologies, and pharmaceutical development. He currently serves as Head of the Clinical Advisory Board for Neuronoff, Inc. and Neuros Medical, and as CEO of Alyea Therapeutics. Over the course of his career, Dr. Soin has founded and led eight biotechnology companies, several of which have successfully exited in transactions collectively valued at more than $1 billion, positioning him among the most successful physician-entrepreneurs in the field.

Dr. Soin has also played a prominent role in shaping pain management policy, education, and innovation at the national level. He has served as the physician representative to Medicare through the Clinical Advisory Committee for Ohio and Kentucky for pain management for the last 15 years. His leadership roles include President and CEO of the Ohio Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (OHSIPP), President-Elect of the TriState Pain Society, President of the Society of Interventional Pain Management Surgery Centers, and Past President of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He has been appointed to the State Medical Board of Ohio by both Governor John Kasich and Governor Mike DeWine.

A Dayton native, Dr. Soin earned his medical degree from NEOMED in 2002 and was recently honored with the university’s Distinguished Alumni Award. He completed an anesthesiology residency at Rush University in Chicago and a pain management fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, remaining actively engaged in research and scholarly publication throughout his training.

In addition to his M.D., Dr. Soin holds an M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee and Master of Science degrees from Brown University and Dartmouth College.

Commencement will be held Saturday, May 2, at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall in Akron.
