American Cancer Society’s Karen Knudsen Appears on VITALS Oct. 7

The CEO of the American Cancer Society (ACS), Karen Knudsen, Ph.D., M.B.A., will speak on the next VITALS series, Thursday, Oct. 7, at noon.

Now in its second year, NEOMED’s VITALS (Visionary Health Leadership in Action), continues to inspire current and future health care leaders to meet the trajectory of change that’s occurring in health care with the innovative approaches of national thought leaders such as Dr. Knudsen.

A National Cancer Institute-funded researcher, Dr. Knudsen has a track record of advocating for cancer research and access to care. In addition to her role as CEO of the ACS, she leads the ACS’s advocacy affiliate, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. She also serves on the board of advisors for the National Cancer Institute and on 12 external advisory boards for NCI-designated cancer centers.

Within a 17-minute framework, Dr. Knudsen will have the opportunity to launch discourse on any of the VITALS topics: value-based, innovation, technology, advocacy, leadership or service. Participants on the online event will then have the opportunity to ask questions for the remainder of the hour. Monica Robins, senior health correspondent for WKYC-TV, will moderate the session.

Art Papier, M.D., who was previously announced as the October speaker, will appear later this year.
