Additional Lanes Added for Drive-Up COVID-19 Testing at NEOMED

Due to a large turnout for COVID-19 testing on July 21, two additional test station lanes have been  added to speed up the process for no-cost testing at Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Five lanes of no-cost, drive-up COVID-19 testing will be offered from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, July 25. Testing will take place rain or shine in NEOMED’s parking lots.

NEOMED is hosting the testing in partnership with Portage County Health District, Portage County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, and University Hospitals Portage County Medical Center.

No appointment is needed, and no health care provider referral is required. Individuals of any age may be tested, but those under 18 will need the signed consent of a parent or guardian. Those being tested will need proper ID, a pen and something to write on.

Dale Hluch, NEOMED’s director of campus operations, said that approximately 200 COVID-19 nasal swab tests can be administered per hour and enough supplies are available to test up to 1,000 people.

The lab results will be called to the phone number that the test-taker supplies on the form provided. Officials said results normally take 24-72 hours to process.
