Body donation program

Memorial Service & Burial

Your consideration of participating in our Body Donation Program is greatly appreciated.

Each year, our medical students and the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology organize a multi-denominational memorial service, inviting families and friends of donors to attend.

Unless otherwise specified by the donor or survivors, cremated remains will be interred in our designated cemetery plot at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown, Ohio. Alternatively, if survivors prefer, the donor’s remains can be returned for private disposition. Please indicate your preference on the donor form.

A permanent memorial plaque prominently displayed at the University acknowledges the individual names of donors.

Our burial plot features a majestic headstone inscribed with the heartwarming message: “They Gave in Death for Those in Life.”

Memorial Contributions

Some relatives and friends have asked if they can contribute to the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology in memory of the donor. All contributions are gratefully accepted and are placed in a special fund that supports biomedical-anatomical research.
